Woohoo! It is almost Tailgate time! I don't know about you, but I sure am excited for a party, even one with masks where we are all standing apart! ;-)

Who: All Hammerhead families are invited, whether you joined the pool this year or not. This will be a private event and the pool is closed to everyone except for us. If you have RSVPd, thank you! If you haven't, please do so on the website, via this calendar event.

Also, we encourage everyone attending to rock their Hammerhead spirit wear! If you purchased this years blue t-shirt, we would love to see you in them and get some pics for the website, but ANY spirit wear is encouraged. If you don't have spirit wear, please feel free to wear team colors or anything shark themed!

What: We will be partying out of the backs of our cars, tailgate style! Please bring your own chairs. When parking, please park in the back lot, which is parallel to Monroe St and leave a little more space than usual between cars to facilitate easy social distancing. ***Please bring masks to wear for your whole family***

Cailley and Vianca are organizing some fun for all of our swimmers, so please have them wear their swim suits. We will follow pool rules for Covid response, see the pool website for more details. www.herndonswims.com. Adults will not be swimming at this party.

The Buenadillas food truck will be available from 5-7 for us! If you haven't had their food before, it is delish! Please check out www.buenadillas.com for more info. You are of course welcome to bring your own food and drink if you prefer. We will not be providing any food or beverages, so please make sure to bring what you need! Especially plenty of water since it will be hot, hot, hot!

We know this will be different than a typical Hammerhead shindig, but we still hope for it to be a relaxing good time. We ask that you please adhere to all recommended covid prevention protocol including staying 6' from others when socializing and wearing a mask when 6' isn't possible.

Thanks again to Joanne Lyons for ordering Hammerhead themed masks which we can all rock at the tailgate! woohoo! I've never been so excited for a mask!

Why?: Because we miss being together as a team and want to have one bonding experience this summer :-) We are so excited to get to celebrate and send off our seniors at this event as well! 

Tentative Schedule:

• 5:00pm Start Tailgate Setups and Begin food orders from Buenadillas Food Truck

• 5:30pm Games!

• 6:15pm Out of the Water To Get Seated For Senior Events

• 6:30pm Senior Recognition Events

• 7:00pm Senior Captain Relay Team Selection Announcements/Food Truck Leaves

• 7:15pm Relay Events

• 7:45pm Cleanup

Please join us for the Taco One food truck, which will be at the pool from 5:00-8:00 followed by the team slideshow and a movie (TBD, but will be PG or G).  The pool will close for our team at 8:00 and we expect to start the slideshow around 8:30.  We estimate that the evening should wrap up around 10:30. 

We will have the movie set up so that folks can float in the shallow end and watch it. Due to safety concerns, we are limiting the floats to just noodles at this point. Plenty are available at the pool, or bring your own.

Please plan to attend our party on Sunday, July 28th from 5-9 pm

We will begin the evening with a taco fiesta bar, provided by Guapos, and slushies for both adults and swimmers.  Awards will begin at 5:30 p.m.  At the conclusion of awards, the coaches will take the swimmers through fun pool games, ending with pinata fun!  Dessert and the famous slideshow will commence at sun down.

If you'd like something other than adult slushies and/or the listed non-alcoholic options to drink, please bring your own.

Please join us for lunch after our meet at Lake Braddock. The Breeze is one of our Gold Level sponsors and we ask that we make every effort to "pack the house" to show our appreciation. This a great bonding experience for swimmers and parents too! We have reserved a private space in the upper level and backside of The Breeze. Let us know if you’re coming to ensure appropriate staffing at the restaurant.
